Tip 1. Go to sleep.
You don't need to stay up and watch that extra episode of Lost. Go to sleep 45 minutes earlier and wake up 10 minutes earlier, trust me, your body will love you for it.
Tip 2. Eat something other than Ramen.
Get some chicken, toss it in the freezer. When you feel like actually eating some real food, put it on the counter in the morning. When you get home, get some simple italian dressing and put the thawed out chicken in a Ziploc with the dressing for an hour or so before you're ready to cook it. Get some Zatarains rice. Put the chicken in a pan on high, sear both sides for a minute, turn the heat down, add some more dressing, olive oil, butter, little bit of lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste. Have your rice going while you're doing all this and you'll have a pretty easy, great tasting meal with only two pans to wash.
Tip 3. Cut back on your caffeine intake.
You know what happens when you drink coffee, or other caffeine laden drinks? You trick your hormone glands. That jittery, high energy, high focused feeling you get from coffee? That's adrenaline pumping through you. Have you ever tried to go to sleep after getting an adrenaline rush? You can't. Not without drugs. Have you recently though about how many drugs people today take? Nope? Well, you take one for your cholesterol, headache, backpain, the side effects from your cholesterol medice, one to help you go to sleep, to get up in the morning, to keep you from being depressed - are you getting the point?
Cut back on some caffeine throughout your day, and you might actually be able to get a natural night of sleep, and then maybe you won't need to take that pill in the morning to get up. Did you know Omega-3 acts as a natural anti-depressant? It also helps with cholesterol. Guess what, it helps with your bodies aches and pains by helping you rebuild your tissues? Wait, did we just gut out 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 different drugs just by not drinking two cups of coffee and taking a vitamin you would be getting if you had a well balanced diet, like from fish, Omega-3? Wow.
Tip 4. Exclude yourself from your email for an hour, shut off your phone.
Take some time to just relax for yourself each day, if you can't do it every day, try every two days, or three days. The point is, to take some time to jot down your thoughts, ideas, memories. Relax, breath, the world isn't going to end.
Tip 5. Take your own advice.
You probably knew all these things, I obviously did, now it's time to implement them. Think about the other thins you know you could do to
make your life more manageable, healthier, happier, and just try.
Give it a shot, you might enjoy yourself a bit more.
